I admire the creativity in this one, from the unique hairstyle, to the exotic makeup of his anatomy- one would certainly not want to venture off into the wilderness unprepared to face this guy. 
There are a few things that didn't seem right in my opinion. For one, the beginning of the whip, seems to be hanging from the serpents mouth, although I think I know what you were trying to accomplish and agree that it would've been a hard area to try to shade in. I think some added lines to the underbelly of creature would add more quality to it's appearance.
